Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Privt Voice. We have tried to keep them plain. By using the app you agree to them.

The service

Privt Voice is on-device dictation and meeting transcription for macOS. There is a free plan that runs entirely on your Mac, and an optional paid Pro plan that adds encrypted backup, sync across your devices, and share links. Privt Voice is made by Privt. Labs (TEMPUL PTY LTD).

Your account and your keys

Pro uses a Privt ID - a random 8-character handle generated on your device - together with a passphrase you choose. Your passphrase and encryption keys never leave your device, and we cannot recover or reset them. If you lose both your passphrase and your 12-word recovery phrase, your synced data cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. That is the point of the design, and it means keeping those safe is your responsibility.

Subscriptions and billing

Pro is US$7 per month or US$69.99 per year, billed through Stripe. It renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time and keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for. Prices may change, with notice, for future billing periods. If something goes wrong with a charge, email support@stayprivt.com and we will sort it out fairly.

Acceptable use

Don't use Privt Voice to break the law or to infringe anyone's rights. Recording conversations and meetings is subject to consent and notification laws that differ by place - you are responsible for telling participants they are being recorded where the law requires it, and for complying with the rules that apply to you.

Your content

Your notes and transcripts are yours. We claim no ownership of them, and because of how the encryption works, we cannot access them.

The burn code

Entering a burn code permanently destroys the keys we hold and wipes your signed-in devices the next time they connect. It is immediate, irreversible, and we cannot stop or undo it. Use it deliberately.

Availability and "as is"

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. On-device transcription accuracy varies with audio, accent, and environment, and Pro sync depends on third-party infrastructure, so we don't promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Privt. Labs is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for data you lose because you lost your passphrase and recovery phrase. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights you have under laws that cannot be excluded, including the Australian Consumer Law.

Ending your use

You can stop using Privt Voice, or delete your data or burn your account, at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service or fail to pay.

Changes

We may update these terms; if we do, we will post the new version here. Continuing to use the service means you accept the changes.
